Paper Archiecture

While roaming around in the virtual world I found an interesting person Mr. Shigeru Ban from Japan. He is considered to be the pioneer of using recycled cardboard tube as structural material. He has designed incredible structures (both in dimension and aesthetics) using cardboard rolls of various diameter and thickness. Most (or may be all) of his structures are temporary because of the very basic nature of his material.

Look at his work on his official website: http://www.shigerubanarchitects.com/SBA_WORKS/SBA_PAPER/SBA_Paper_index.htm

  2. Incredible!! Awesome work. He was also involved in the building of shelters after Bhuj earthquake in India.
I wonder how much time it takes to build a single "normal" structure such as the shelter including the treatment of raw materials.
